Skábmagovat - The Indigenous peoples’ film festival - is arranged for the ninth time in 2007. The festival takes place in Inari January 25th - January 29th.
From 1999 on, Skábmagovat film festival has been arranged annually in January-during the polar night –at the Sámi Museum and the Nature Centre Siida in the village of Inari.
The purpose of the festival is to show fiction films and documentaries made by the Sámi. Every year, the film festival also presents films made by one other indigenous people in the world. Year 2007 Skábmagovat presents films from Africa.
At Skábmagovat 2007, we will again present several premières of films that have been made in the North. As earlier, Skábmagovat 2007 will also this year have a program for children and young people. Traditionally the first day, Jan 25th, and the fifth day, Jan 29th, of the festival will be reserved for children and young people.
In 2007, the audience will also be able to enjoy films and refreshments at the open-air snow theatre “Northern Lights Theatre”.
