1 and 2 cent coin rolls on sale at the Bank of Finland


The Bank of Finland is to begin selling coin rolls of 1 and 2 cent coins to the general public. The coins will be on sale at the Bank's customer service office at Rauhankatu 19, Helsinki. The coin rolls will not be available from any of the Bank of Finland's other offices nor will it be possible to order them by post.

Sale of the coin rolls will, initially, be on a trial basis. They will be put on sale from Monday 18 July 2005 at 9.30 a.m. until the end of September.

The 1 and 2 cent coins will be sold in full rolls only. Customers will be able to purchase a maximum of 10 full rolls of either denomination. Each roll contains 50 coins.

The Bank of Finland's customer service office does not sell any other coins or banknotes – either of series in circulation or collectors items – than the 1 and 2 cent coins mentioned.

While the Bank of Finland's renovation of its head office building is being carried out, the customer service office operates out of temporary facilities at Rauhankatu 19. The door to the office is on the right hand corner of the building (a short, shallow flight of steps leads down to the door). The customer service office opening hours are Monday to Friday 9.30–12.00 a.m. and 12.40–15.30 p.m.

Finnish 1 and 2 cent coins are legal tender, although due to the regulation concerning the rounding of prices to the nearest 5 cents, their demand is purely for their collectability. The Bank of Finland has not, to date, sold these smallest denominated coins directly to the public, although they have been made available via retail banks. Due to the force of demand, they will be sold for a trial period over the summer. The decision to sell the coin rolls has also been made to coincide with the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Helsinki, which are expected to bring many coin-collecting travellers to the city.

The main role of the customer service office of the Bank of Finland is the redemption of markka banknotes and coins. Banknotes and the most recent series of markka denominated coins can be redeemed at the office until 29 February 2012, silver 1 markka coins and 5 markka coins with the icebreaker motif may be redeemed until 31 December 2007.

Ich habe eine ganze Menge europäische 1- und 2-Cent-Stücke. Wären die Finnen am Tauschen interessiert? Mir fehlen nämlich noch die finnischen Kleinigkeiten :] .

Und wenn ja, welche Staaten hätten's denn gerne? ;)

aber einige andre doppelt...

Ich habe auch diverse 1+2 Cent Stücke..weiß har nicht mehr, woher ich die habe..

Würdest du 1- und 2 Cent-Stücke, die du doppelt hast, gegen Exemplare aus anderen Ländern tauschen?

Habe da einiges zu bieten: Frankreich, Luxemburg, Niederlande, Italien, Spanien, Portugal, Belgien, Österreich

In den Niederlanden sind die 1 und 2 Cent Stücke übrigens auch keine offiziellen Zahlungsstücke mehr. Sind wie in Finnland "abgeschafft". Hm, machen wohl nur die vernünftigen Länder. ;)

ich mag die 1 und 2 cent stücke eigentlich...
sonst wär in deutschland wohl alles noch teurer weil die gleich bei den preisen selbst runden würden und nicht bei der summe hehe
ne ka in deutschland sind die eigentlich normal find ich weils die pfennig stücke ja auch nich abgeschafft wurden
aber 20 cent statt nur 10er is schon sinnvoll ;)

Oha, dann rück ich meine "Niederländer" doch lieber nicht heraus. :]
