FINNAIR OYJ PRESS RELEASE 8 SEPTEMBER 2006 AT 13:30
NUREMBERG ADDED TO FINNAIR NETWORK
Finnair will add the city of Nuremberg in southern Germany to its
scheduled destination network with daily flights as of April 2007.
Nuremberg will be Finnair's seventh German destination.
"Nuremberg is in the centre of the northern Bavaria region," says
Petteri Kostermaa, Vice President, Network Strategies and Management.
"About five million people live in the area, of which over two million
are in the industrial centres of Nuremberg, Furth and Erlangen. The
biggest industries are IT and telecommunications, logistics and
pharmaceuticals."
Timetables for the new route have been planned according to local
German business wishes for connections from Nuremberg via Helsinki to
Asia, as well as for local business travel. Nuremberg is a significant
tourist destination, since the famous cities of Bayreuth, Rothenburg,
Coburg and Bamberg are all nearby.
Finnair will use its new Embraer aircraft for the route, with morning
departures on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays and early evening
departures on other days to connect with arrivals from Asia. Nuremberg
is the fourth new destination to be opened next spring, joining
Bucharest, Lisbon and Ljubljana on the schedule.
