Einwanderung und Geburtenrate sind die Hauptgründe und auf dem Höchststand seit gut 13 Jahren.
Einen Bevölkerungszuwachs gab es besonders in neun Gebieten, darunter Uusimaa, Pirkanmaa, Nord-Ostrobotnia. Eine verstärkte Auswanderung findet man in zehn Landesteilen: u.a. Süd-Savo, Lapland, Kymenlaakso und Kainuu.
Etwa 286,000 Einwohner sind in ein anderes Gebiet umgezogen. Das sind 4,100 weniger als im Vorjahr.
Geschätzt 22,700 Ausländer sind nach Finnland eingewandert. Dies ist die höchste Zahl seit der Unabhängigkeit Finnlands
(Anm.: nicht vergessen, der http://www.hs.fi/english/article/Finlan ... 5223378939 , der auf 750 festgelegt wurde, wurde weitaus unterschritten und knapp 75 Anträge wurden genehmigt, also 10%, Stand 1.12.06). Etwa 12,100 Einwohner Finnlands sind ausgewandert.
Die Zahl der Geburten beläuft sich auf 59,100, etwa 1,300 mehr als im Vorjahr, und stellt eine Rekordzahl seit 1997 dar. Die Anzahl der Todesfälle beläuft sich auf 48,000 in 2006, etwa 100 mehr als im Vorjahr.
Etwa 28,300 Einwohner sind in den Stand der Ehe getreten, 1,000 weniger als im Vorjahr. Es gab 180 Registrierungen von eheähnlichen Gemeinschaften in 2006. Etwa 13,300 Scheidungen wurden ausgesprochen.

Finland’s population has grown more vigorously in 2006 than in recent years. According to an estimate by Statistics Finland, the country’s population grew 0.4 percent, or to 5,277,300 people, this year.
Immigration and an increase in births are cited as the reason for Finland's biggest population in 13 years.
The population grew in 9 districts, particularly in Uusimaa, Pirkanmaa and Northern Ostrobothnia. Meanwhile, the number of inhabitants decreased in 10 districts, mainly in Southern Savo, Lapland, Kymenlaakso and Kainuu.
According to Statistics Finland, a total of 286,000 people moved to another district in Finland – or 4,100 fewer than last year.
Record number of immigrants
An estimated 22,700 people are thought to have immigrated to Finland in 2006. The number is the largest since Finland’s independence. Meanwhile about 12,100 people are estimated to have moved away from Finland.
Statistics Finland says that 59,100 children were born this year, an increase of 1,300 since last year and the most since 1997. Some 48,000 people died in 2006, or about 100 more than last year.
By the end of the year, some 28,300 people got married, or 1,000 fewer than last year. About 180 couples are said to have legally registered their union in 2006. Meanwhile 13,300 people got divorced.
